Life in a nutshellWhy are we here? Are we just another species of life that just happens to be smarter than other mamals? Atheists might agree, but... We are made, born, go through childhood, adolescence, adulthood, middle age, old age and back to being like a child before we die. For mamals, as smart as we are, it seems like a sad, useless existence. Every day we live to assure ourselves of shelter, food, water, clothing, and even the right to exist. Some of us feel the need to build monuments to our existence. Alright, so you are rich, very rich and your life is a bed of rose petals, of fun and relaxation. You are NOT the norm. But really, we just toil every day in order to stay alive and to have the means to aquire our physical needs. Then we sleep, maybe, and start over the next day. Thoughts like that can hit a person pretty hard when you are getting old. Time seems to slide by faster. As our clocks run down and we slow down there are never enough hours in the day. And you can't put a permanent brake on the inevitable end. Now you start to think about what you have accomplished in your early years, and you are disgusted with yourself for letting things slide. Maybe you worked hard and feel your accomplishments will keep you alive in the minds of those you will leave behind because they profit from your death. Does that make you feel good? Are you satisfied that this is all there is? Or are we still missing the boat? So, our lives, whether comfortable or not, are simply a physical cycle no different than any other animal's experiences, just much, much more sophisticated, from conception to death.....? Is life worth living? Why? Where is the boat? To be continued... I am looking for comments :) Why are we here? Are we just another species of life that just happens to be smarter than other mamals? What do you think? accomplishments, adolescence, adulthood, birth, childhood, conception, death, food clothing, life, missing the boat, monuments, physical life cycle, physical needs, shelter, sleep
