Health is HolisticProverbs: 23:07 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he... In this case it refers to a person the reader is warned not to associate with, as this person has an evil eye and his words are false. Although he may be polite and appear friendly, his thinking and therefore his intent is not. Find a Bible online and read it yourself :) From a different angle this is also true: I am sure you have heard before how one's attitude can affect one's physical health. When people are seen going to the drug counter in the pharmacy repeatedly, you can almost hear the unkind word whispered behind their backs by others whose eyes follow the person into the store: hypocondriac! This can be true, though we must never judge someone since we do NOT really know why people do what they do, unless it is blatent mischief. So why does a person continually get more pills and potions? Because they are obsessed with their health. They think about it so much that they think pain into their big toe or whatever is their anxiety focus. In time the pain becomes real. The doctor may not find anything wrong, but the imagined pain or disease can maim and kill just the same. There are many accounts of 1st peoples whose elders determined it was time to die, and they did, although there was nothing that physically wrong with them at the time of their decision. They were just old and felt they were a burden. Time to go... Mind over matter. Anorexics are another group of people who have a problem. They wear blinders that tell them when they look in the mirror that they are too fat, when all others only see this stick of skin and bones covered by clothes. Well, none of us are perfect. Thick, thin, short, tall, crippled, blind, whatever we are, we need to be content in whatever situation we find ourselves. The apostle Paul had a problem with his eyes. He prayed fervently to God three times to heal him (2 Corinthians 12:8). But God's answer was that Paul's health condition was to be accepted vs.9 as "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." When we do all we should to keep us as healthy as we are able, given our circumstances in life, we should have a sunny disposition to light our days. From personal experience I can say that I feel profoundly different if I give in to my aches and pains than if I ignore them and look for cheerful and happy thoughts to control my attitude. A good chapter of a book to help one get the right perspective is here. Proverbs: 23:07 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he... Thoughts have a tremendous influence on physical wellbeing. Your health and life can depend on it.
